Now scheduling for 2017!
Call to Artists:
Play into Art Preschool, a small artist run preschool, is utilizing its abundant wall space for exhibitions by local artists. I am calling this program a Residency but not in the traditional sense. Each residency will be 1 week (for installation or sculpture) to 2 months (for 2D works). This will include exhibition space, a weekend morning opening reception, 8 hours free childcare for parent-artists, a paid workshop where the resident artist will instruct the preschoolers in an art process relevant to what is being exhibited and possibly free access to my home paper making and printmaking studio provided artist can pass an Office of Child Care background check.
This program is inspired by the “Children are a People” exhibition at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebaek, Denmark with its vision of “real art by real artists for real children”. (Lise Haller Baggesen, Mothernism, Mother of Revolution). As such the art presented should respect the intelligence of children and at the same time respect how they learn- through touch. At least half of the works should be able to be touched by clean toddler hands.
Please contact me for more information or send your application directly. Include up to 10 images of your work. CV including any relevant experience with children. Artist statement of interest.
