MotherWork Maps

A collective document of domestic labor. All persons performing domestic labor daily are welcome to submit.

At this stage in isolation I feel myself drawn to participate in community, to move beyond documenting my own experiences and reach out to you. I invite you to submit your own movement map and participate in a communal domestic document. Each map collected from the community will be stitched onto individual quilt blocks and pieced together as a collective documentation, bearing witness to our labor during this time.

To make your own map

  1. Give yourself a time frame. Duration 5-10 minutes.
  2. Draw a very light or imaginary outline of your space viewed from above.
  3. Perform your daily routine within your given time frame.
  4. Draw your movements within your space as a continuous line from memory.
  5. Photograph your map.
  6. Submit your map!
