(Re) Collect workshops are child care supported events for parents hosted at Daisy’s Place in Eugene, OR. The workshops facilitate reflection, discussion and creation surrounding the topic “objects of memory”. As humans we collect sentimental objects, as parents we collect very specific and universal objects- baby’s first outfit, hair from first hair cut, favorite animal, blanket etc.
We will memorialize these objects in art works through paper making and sculpting.
Children will be engaged in parallel art activities.
At the end of the workshop I will curate a show of the sculptures we produce.
This project is an extension of the installation project, Objects of Memory, in which I curated objects loaned to me by people who knew my deceased mother, all of which carried a memory of her.
Dates: Saturdays at 9:30 am to 11:30 am
*Grieving families, recent or past, given priority at this workshop but is open to others if the class does not fill up.
(Re) Collect has been funded by the Lane Arts Council Community Project Grant!
