Paper (re)making and sculpting

I have just completed creating a paper making studio in my garage. My first project with Aeon was to make butterfly wildflower seed paper with recycled children’s artwork. We will be selling these as a fundraiser for the (Re)Collect Workshops.

I have been doing this project with Aeon and the children I care for daily. The kids separate all our construction paper scraps into like colors, rip them into tiny pieces then place them in a blender with water. When a smooth pulp is made we pour the mixture over a mesh frame and they take turns squeezing the excess water out. I lay the still wet paper over a toy or other object and let dry to form a sculpture. I am still experimenting with this technique to achieve a look that I like but the kids love the process and it uses up otherwise wasted art supplies!
